Odekake hololive is hololive's first TV anime
COVER's tenth-anniversary anime now has a title and a teaser visual holding all 29 participating hololive talents, with Studio KAI animating.
hololive production's first television anime has a name. COVER revealed the official title, Odekake hololive, on 23 September, along with a teaser visual that gathers all 29 participating talents into one image and a staff list headed by Studio KAI. The show is being made as part of hololive's tenth-anniversary project and is already shortened to Odeholo by the people who will watch it.
What kind of anime it is
The official site frames Odekake hololive as a travel omnibus: the talents wander around Japan through the seasons, eating well, laughing a lot and heading somewhere they have never been. The tagline asks the question the whole premise rests on — where shall we go today? — and the site's own framing leans on the idea that performers usually seen through a streaming window are off somewhere on their days away from the desk.
Who is making it
Shunsuke Machitani directs, with Ouri Yasukawa as assistant director and Kodai Minami of Studio KAI handling series composition. Masatoshi Tsuji designed the characters and Studio KAI animates, with COVER credited as the original work.
The 29 talents in the teaser
The visual collects Tokino Sora, Robocosan, Aki Rosenthal, Shirakami Fubuki, Natsuiro Matsuri, Nakiri Ayame, Yuzuki Choco, Oozora Subaru, AZKi, Ookami Mio, Sakura Miko, Nekomata Okayu, Inugami Korone, Hoshimachi Suisei, Usada Pekora, Shiranui Flare, Shirogane Noel, Houshou Marine, Tsunomaki Watame, Tokoyami Towa, Himemori Luna, Yukihana Lamy, Momosuzu Nene, Shishiro Botan, Omaru Polka, La+ Darknesss, Takane Lui, Hakui Koyori and Kazama Iroha.
That is a substantial roster for an omnibus format, which suits a structure built from small trips rather than one continuous plot. What the site does not yet state is when the series airs or where it will be available outside Japan, so there is no broadcast date and no streaming territory to report yet. Our opinion
A VTuber agency making an anime about its own performers going on holiday is a shrewd piece of restraint. A series that tried to build lore or stakes around 29 streamers would collapse under the weight of characters who each arrive with an audience and a back catalogue; an anthology of trips instead hands each episode to whoever fits the destination, and the seasons do the structural work. Studio KAI's involvement is the part that makes it more than a promotional package, because the studio's recent record is strongest on exactly this register of warmth and motion. The open question is whether a travel show paced for Japanese regional tourism will travel itself, because an anthology that leans on local flavour can read as a postcard to everyone outside the country. Give it a broadcast date and a real streaming plan and this becomes one of the more genuinely interesting anime of the anniversary slate.
