hololive and Critical Role announce Shattered Legends Daggerheart series
hololive production and Critical Role are joining forces for a six-part Daggerheart actual-play series set in Exandria, arriving on YouTube and Beacon in November.
COVER Corporation has announced Shattered Legends, a new six-part actual-play miniseries bringing hololive production and Critical Role together for a canon Daggerheart adventure set in Exandria. The series is due to premiere in November 2026, with episodes planned for the official Critical Role, Nerissa Ravencroft and hololive English YouTube channels, as well as Beacon.1
The project pairs four hololive English talents — Nerissa Ravencroft, Mori Calliope, Shiori Novella and Gigi Murin — with Critical Role’s Marisha Ray. Matthew Mercer will serve as Game Master, with the cast playing characters created for the campaign. COVER describes it as the first collaboration between hololive production and Critical Role.1
What is Shattered Legends?
The crossover uses Daggerheart, Critical Role’s fantasy tabletop role-playing game, which builds its stories around collaborative character creation and a Hope and Fear mechanic. The campaign will be canon to Critical Role’s Exandria setting, placing the new party inside the same wider fictional world used by the company’s main campaigns and animated projects.1
The official hololive project page describes Shattered Legends as a six-part series led by Mercer, with the cast travelling through Exandria on a perilous fantasy adventure. It also confirms that additional behind-the-scenes material will be available through Nerissa’s YouTube membership and Critical Role’s Beacon streaming service.2
The main episodes are expected to be free to watch on YouTube, while Beacon will carry extra post-episode “cooldown” discussions. Japanese subtitles are planned for the YouTube episodes. COVER has also teased a promotional convention tour across North America, Europe and Asia, plus merchandise and further updates.1
Our opinion
The interesting part of this announcement is not simply the size of the names involved. Shattered Legends is designed as a proper campaign rather than a one-off guest appearance, and making it canon to Exandria gives the collaboration a clear creative reason to exist. The six-part format should also make the project easier to follow than an open-ended actual-play run, while the mix of free episodes and Beacon extras gives viewers a straightforward way into the story.
The cast brings together different kinds of online performers, but the announcement wisely puts the campaign first: a defined setting, a named Game Master and a ruleset built around collaborative storytelling. We will learn more about the balance between promotion and play when the first episode arrives in November.
