Sanrio Characters Cardboard Watch 4 brings gift-box charm to capsule toys

Sanrio’s Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Kogimyun lead a five-design capsule-toy clock collection built around gift boxes and oversized ribbons.

Sanrio’s familiar faces are being packed into gift boxes for the fourth instalment of the Cardboard Watch capsule-toy range. KITAN CLUB’s official product page describes a set of small tabletop clocks built around a present-box design, with oversized ribbons and character figures emerging from the cardboard packaging. 1

The new collection is called Sanrio Characters Cardboard Watch 4 and features five varieties: Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Cinnamoroll and Kogimyun. The fourth release swaps the earlier cardboard themes for a more overtly gift-like presentation, with each clock designed to look as if a character is popping out of a wrapped present. 1

What is in the collection

The clocks are about 45mm in size and cost ¥500 per capsule. Each one combines a character-coloured cardboard box with a small LCD display, while the ribbon element adds the moving, three-dimensional detail that gives the range its visual hook. The display can show the time, date or seconds, and the battery can be replaced rather than treating the toy as disposable. 1

Kogimyun is the newcomer for this wave, joining four returning Sanrio favourites. The official imagery places Cinnamoroll, Kogimyun and My Melody prominently in the main product shot, with the full five-character line-up shown below. That makes the set feel more like a miniature display collection than a conventional flat-faced novelty clock. 1

Release details

The range began rolling out through capsule-toy machines from 23 October 2026, according to the report that brought the announcement to wider attention. KITAN CLUB’s English product page describes the broader release window as late October 2026, so availability may vary by machine, shop and region rather than arriving everywhere on one single day. 12

The collection is aimed at fans aged 15 and over, and its ¥500 price point keeps each individual pull relatively accessible. Completing the set is a different proposition, of course: capsule toys make the first purchase simple, but collecting all five designs depends on both availability and luck.

Our opinion

This is a smart theme for a small character collectible. The cardboard-box concept gives the clocks a clear identity, while the oversized ribbons and figures make the display more playful than a standard character print wrapped around a digital screen. It also helps that the range has a practical detail in the replaceable battery, because a novelty clock that can quietly become a permanent shelf decoration is more appealing than one designed to be briefly amusing and then forgotten.

The strongest part of the line-up is its consistency. Each character gets the same gift-box idea but enough colour and personality to remain recognisable, and adding Kogimyun gives returning collectors a reason to look again. The main limitation is the usual capsule-toy uncertainty: the official announcement confirms the designs and price, but not a universal stockist list. If the product reaches your local machines, it looks like one of the more coherent Sanrio capsule releases to put on a shelf this autumn.
