Kadokawa showed a second teaser key visual and a second teaser trailer on 3 October for Yusha-kei ni Shosu -Game of the GODDESS-, the smartphone game being built off the Sentenced to Be a Hero franchise. The game is in development for Android and iOS at VIC GAME STUDIOS, with the original light novel author, Rocket Shokai, supervising its original scenario.

Who is in it

The game brings back the anime's leads: Yohei Azakami as Xylo Forbartz, Mayu Iizuka as Teoritta, Shizuka Ishigami as Patausche Kivia and Shun Horie as Dotta Luzulas. It adds two original characters, Noi Marjella and Lisabella, voiced by Miyu Tomita and Fuka Izumi. The publisher has not confirmed the romanisations of those new names.

Where the franchise stands

Shokai launched the novels on Kadokawa's Kakuyomu site in October 2020, and the printed editions began in September 2021 with illustrations by Mephisto. The anime premiered on Tokyo MX on 3 January and ran across 28 channels, with Crunchyroll streaming it and later adding a same-day English dub. A second season is now in production. Kadokawa also opened a character popularity poll for the anime on 3 October, running to 3 November, with the results due in March 2027.

Our opinion

Franchise mobile games usually arrive as a holding pattern between seasons, and this one is at least honest about it: the headline feature is the returning cast, not a new story. Bringing Rocket Shokai in to supervise the scenario is the detail that matters, because it is the difference between a licensed tie-in and something that can sit beside the novels without embarrassing them. Two original characters with named voice actors points to a game meant to seed material the anime could later pick up, which is a smarter use of a project like this than most publishers manage. Whether it earns its place comes down to whether the writing clears the bar the anime set.
