Universal Studios Japan reveals Detective Conan World 2027 attractions
Universal Studios Japan will bring Detective Conan World back from 10 February to 30 June 2027 with an escape game, live restaurant and story ride.
Universal Studios Japan has confirmed that Detective Conan World will return as part of Universal Cool Japan 2027, running from 10 February to 30 June 2027. The seasonal event will bring three attractions based on Gosho Aoyama's mystery franchise, including a revamped restaurant experience and two rides or interactive experiences. 12
The announcement concerns Detective Conan (名探偵コナン), the long-running manga and anime series about teenage detective Shinichi Kudo, who investigates cases while living under the alias Conan Edogawa. Universal Studios Japan has hosted the park event since 2017, and says the 2027 edition will continue turning the series' deduction stories into in-person entertainment rather than simply presenting character displays. 2
The three attractions are Detective Conan: The Escape, Detective Conan Live Restaurant and Detective Conan Story Ride. The Escape will use Stage 18 as a real escape-game experience. The Story Ride will run on Hollywood Dream – The Ride, although USJ has not yet detailed the full scenario or ride-specific content. Those details are due to be announced later. 2
The most substantial change is the live restaurant. USJ says the experience is moving to the Peacock Theater, a new venue for the attraction, and that both the setting and the format are being refreshed for 2027. The company describes it as an entertainment restaurant built around food, mystery and a stronger live-performance feel. It is a meaningful change from simply bringing back the previous restaurant menu: guests are being promised a new setting and a redesigned way to enter Conan's world. 2
USJ has published ticket guidance for the restaurant, with adult prices listed at ¥7,000 to ¥8,400 and child prices at ¥2,600 to ¥3,200. Prices vary by date, the park's admission ticket is not included, and the general release date for restaurant bookings will be announced later. The wider attraction details, food and merchandise information will also follow in future updates. 2
The event will be part of Universal Cool Japan 2027, USJ's broader programme of real-world experiences based on Japanese entertainment brands. That context matters because Detective Conan World is not being announced as a standalone exhibition: it is one of the headline seasonal attractions in a larger event that will continue to add its 2027 line-up. 1
Our opinion
The new restaurant venue gives this year's announcement a useful hook. The escape game and story ride are recognisable returns, but moving the restaurant to the Peacock Theater suggests USJ is trying to make the repeat visit feel materially different. The missing piece is detail: until the park reveals the new mystery, cast and ride scenario, the announcement promises a stronger framework rather than explaining exactly what returning Conan fans will experience.
For now, visitors should mark the 10 February to 30 June window and wait for the later ticket and attraction updates before planning a full trip.
