Witch Hat Atelier ranked eighth among manga on BookWalker’s English and Global Store during summer 2026, according to information shared with Anime Corner by a BookWalker representative.1

The series also placed 14th across BookWalker’s broader catalogue for the same period. Looking at the first half of 2026, Witch Hat Atelier ranked as the store’s second best-selling series across the full catalogue, according to the same information.1

Created by Kamome Shirahama, Witch Hat Atelier began serialization in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine Morning Two in July 2016. Kodansha USA Publishing began releasing the manga in English in April 2019, helping expand the series’ audience beyond Japan.

The manga’s commercial performance arrives after a strong period for the franchise. It won Best Seinen at the 24th Manga Barcelona Awards, appeared on the Young Adult Library Services Association’s list of great graphic novels for teens, and won Best Manga at the 2025 Harvey Awards.1

The anime adaptation was announced in April 2022 and aired its first season from April 6 to June 29, 2026. The official trailer presents the series’ magical setting and its central characters, giving new viewers a sense of the visual style that helped the property attract attention beyond the manga readership.2

BookWalker’s figures apply to its English and Global Store, so they should not be read as a complete measure of worldwide manga sales. They do, however, show that Witch Hat Atelier remains one of the platform’s strongest-performing series during a year that also brought its anime adaptation to screens.

Our opinion

The ranking is useful because it puts the series’ popularity into a specific retail context rather than relying on broad online enthusiasm. It is not a global sales chart, but a second-place first-half result and an eighth-place summer position still make a convincing case that the anime has arrived alongside an already successful manga.
