Wound & Bandage anime sets January 9 premiere, reveals lead cast
The J.C.STAFF adaptation of Wound & Bandage will air in Japan from January 9, with Hisako Kanemoto and Chikahiro Kobayashi leading the cast.
Wound & Bandage (傷口と包帯) will begin airing in Japan on January 9, 2027, with the TV anime's official website confirming its broadcast schedule, streaming plans and two lead cast members.1 The adaptation of Umihoshi Nanai's manga is being produced by J.C.STAFF, with Hisako Kanemoto voicing Riyo Washizu and Chikahiro Kobayashi voicing Gō Kiritani.12
The series will air in the ANiMAZiNG!!! late-night Saturday slot on ABC TV and the TV Asahi network from January 9. AT-X will show the series earlier that day, while ABEMA will stream it first in Japan at 26:30, according to the official announcement.1 An international streaming partner has not yet been named, so viewers outside Japan should not assume that a global service has been confirmed.
The cast and staff
Kanemoto is known for roles including Sailor Mercury in Sailor Moon Crystal and playing other anime leads, while Kobayashi has voiced characters including Legoshi in Beastars. The official site confirms both performers for the new series and includes comments from each actor about the production.1
Miyuki Ishida is directing Wound & Bandage at J.C.STAFF. Susumu Yamakawa is handling series scripts, and Natsuki Ōyama is designing the characters.2 The anime follows Riyo, the daughter of a powerful yakuza boss, and Gō, a young group member assigned to look after her. The official announcement presents the relationship as a romantic comedy built around Riyo's unusual fascination with seeing intimidating people become vulnerable.12
The announcement also introduces the first teaser video, titled “Ai” (“Love”), and a theme visual. The official website plans to reveal a new visual, promotional video and cast information each week for four weeks from October 16.1 The ABC Animation Channel teaser is embedded below for readers who want an early look at the adaptation.3
Our opinion
The January date gives Wound & Bandage a clear place in the winter 2027 anime calendar, while the weekly promotional plan should make the next month useful for anyone deciding whether to add it to their watchlist. The cast announcement is especially helpful because the central relationship depends heavily on the contrast between Riyo's confidence and Gō's more controlled presence.
The sensible caveat is availability. Japan's broadcast and ABEMA schedule is confirmed, but an international streaming partner has not been announced. Until that changes, the January 9 date is solid for Japan and not a promise of a same-day UK release.1
