The Apothecary Diaries film reveals a new character trailer
The Late Lady’s Treasure introduces the Kajadan pirates and adds three new cast members ahead of its December release.
The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure has released a new character trailer focused on the Kajadan, a group of water pirates who pursue a hidden treasure while Maomao and Jinshi travel through the southern province of Binan-shu.12
The new characters
The trailer introduces Suija, Kaja and Eisho, with Kensho Ono, Jiro Saito and Ryota Takeuchi joining the cast. The Kajadan are tied to the film’s central mystery: a former leader hid a treasure, and the group turns on Maomao and Jinshi while trying to find it.12
The film is an original story from series creator Natsu Hyuuga. Norihiro Naganuma directs at TOHO Animation STUDIO, while Crunchyroll has acquired North American and international rights outside Asia, including India.1
The movie opens in Japan on 11 December, with international release dates and ticket details still to come.1
Our opinion
This trailer gives the film a stronger identity than a simple side story: the water-city setting, a concealed treasure and a suspicious death point towards a proper mystery for Maomao to unravel. The remaining question is how much of that intrigue the eventual international rollout will reveal before audiences can see the film.
