Black Clover Season 2, Episode 5 sends Asta to Nacht's rescue
Asta reunites with Nacht as Crunchyroll's next Black Clover episode brings the fight against the Dark Triad to a head.
Asta and Nacht face the devils
The next episode of Black Clover Season 2 puts Asta back alongside Nacht as the Magic Knights' battle with the Dark Triad escalates. Episode 5, titled “The Best vs. the Worst”, is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, 31 October, on Crunchyroll, according to CBR. 1
The episode's official description says Asta rushes to Nacht's aid and joins forces with Liebe against the twin devils Lilith and Nahamah. Dante Zogratis is also fighting at full devil power, leaving Jack the Ripper in need of help from Magna Swing and Zora Ideale. 1
Magna's new spell raises the stakes
Magna is set to unveil “Underworld Flame Magic: Soul Chain Deathmatch”, a spell he has reportedly spent six months developing. Crunchyroll's official trailer frames the second season as a return to the series' central mix of anti-magic, rivalries and large-scale battles. 2
Our opinion
Episode 5 looks like a useful pressure test for Black Clover Season 2. Asta's rescue of Nacht should deliver the emotional payoff to the previous episode's cliffhanger, while Magna's spell gives the parallel Dante fight a specific hook instead of making it another exchange of increasingly loud attacks. The real question is whether both battles get enough room to breathe without reducing the supporting Black Bulls to spectators.
