Katekyo Hitman Reborn! premieres the ‘Ameato’ ending

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! keeps raiding its own vault, and the newest upload is the creditless seventh ending, W-inds.’ ‘Ameato’. Like the rest of September’s ‘REBORN! MUSIC MONTH’ releases, it takes a theme sequence fans previously had to hunt down on old physical releases and puts it on the official YouTube channel in clean form.

What's actually going on

According to Anime Corner, the newly released video is the creditless version of the seventh ending, which originally accompanied Episodes 77–89 of the television anime. The upload is part of ‘REBORN! MUSIC MONTH’, a September-long project celebrating the series’ 20th anniversary that publishes a past theme sequence daily on the official channel.

These creditless sequences were previously included with physical releases of the anime but had not been officially available online. The campaign began on September 1 with an official 25-song playlist featuring opening themes, ending themes and other music from the TV anime. The seventh ending follows the sixth ending, Lead’s ‘STAND UP!’, which was published the previous day, and the fourth opening featuring LM.C’s ‘88’ before that.

The wider context remains unchanged: Akira Amano’s manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from May 2004 to November 2012 and finished with 42 compilation volumes, while Studio Artland’s television adaptation ran for 203 episodes between October 2006 and September 2010. Why you should care

Anniversary projects live or die on whether they give fans something they cannot already get in three clicks. Officially published, credit-free theme sequences do exactly that — they replace grainy rips and dead links with a dependable archive. For a series as theme-song-heavy as Reborn!, that is genuinely useful rather than merely sentimental.

‘Ameato’ also lands in one of the story’s more eventful stretches, so the daily uploads double as a guided tour through the show’s shifting musical identity. Anyone who fell off the series years ago can dip back into its atmosphere without committing to a rewatch — and anyone who never left gets a tidy excuse to post about it again.

Our opinion

This is the good kind of nostalgia: official, tidy and freely available. The 20th-anniversary campaign is doing exactly what an archive project should — preserving the music in decent quality instead of leaving it to rot on out-of-print discs. It is not a new season, and we are not pretending otherwise, but as anniversary gestures go, this one earns its slot. Keep them coming.
