Lord of Nazarick mobile RPG will shut down on December 16
The Overlord mobile RPG will stop accepting players immediately and close its servers on December 16, 2026.
Lord of Nazarick, the official mobile RPG based on the Overlord anime, will shut down on December 16, 2026, ending a two-year run for the game. The shutdown was announced on October 14, and the team has already disabled new accounts, in-game purchases and top-ups. The game has also been removed from the iOS and Android stores. 1
Players who still have the app installed can log in until December 16 at 10 a.m. UTC-2, after which the servers will close. The announcement gives no reason for the decision and does not mention refunds. That leaves existing players with a fairly narrow window to finish story content, spend remaining resources and take screenshots of anything they want to keep.
What is closing
Lord of Nazarick launched worldwide on October 29, 2024, with Perfect World developing the game and Crunchyroll Games publishing it across several English-speaking markets. A PLUS JAPAN handled publishing in much of Europe and the Middle East. The game retold the anime's story through turn-based battles, while adding new scenarios and a sizeable roster built around the Great Tomb of Nazarick. 1
The mobile RPG was designed as a companion for fans of Overlord, rather than a wholly separate interpretation. Players could recruit characters including Albedo, Shalltear Bloodfallen and Demiurge, explore locations such as Carne Village and E-Rantel, and build parties across five classes and three attributes. Alliance battles, a player-versus-player arena and roguelite-style dungeons provided activities outside the main story. 1
The shutdown also closes one of the more direct ways to revisit the anime's early narrative. Overlord follows Momonga, a player who remains in the world of Yggdrasil after its servers are meant to shut down, and becomes the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown. The mobile game leaned heavily into that same premise and cast, making the service closure an awkward echo of the series' opening hook.
What players should do now
The practical deadline is December 16, not the date the game disappears from the app stores. Anyone who still has access should check the official announcement for the final login time in their region, because the listed deadline is 10 a.m. UTC-2. New players cannot join, and anyone who deletes the app may not be able to download it again through the normal store listing. 1
There is no confirmed refund policy in the announcement reviewed for this report. Players who bought currency or other items should keep their receipts and monitor the game's official channels for any later clarification. That is especially important because the closure notice says the website and social accounts will also close after the servers go offline. 1
Our opinion
The closure is disappointing, but the immediate communication is at least clear about the one fact that matters most: the shutdown date. The weaker point is the lack of an explanation and the absence of refund information in the announcement. A service game can end, but players deserve a clean account of what happens to purchases and whether any offline or archival access is possible.
For fans, the best response is to treat December 16 as a hard preservation deadline. Capture the story scenes, record the characters and save any account information that might matter before the servers disappear. Lord of Nazarick was built to be played online, so once the service ends, much of its material may be inaccessible rather than merely dormant. 1
