Emilia is getting another birthday celebration, and Re:ZERO fans in Japan have a surprisingly good excuse to spend money on merchandise: the 2026 event brings new artwork and an exclusive short story from creator Tappei Nagatsuki.
Anime Corner reports that Re:ZERO Emilia Birthday Life 2026 in Marui returns to Japanese department stores on 19 September, with the event built around Emilia’s 23 September birthday.
What's actually going on
The purchase bonus is a booklet containing “Three, Two, One, Smile!”, a newly written story by Nagatsuki specifically for this year’s event. New illustrations of Emilia, Subaru and Beatrice will also appear across the event merchandise.
The first event runs at Shibuya Modi in Tokyo from 19 to 27 September. A second Marui venue in Kobe follows from 3 to 12 October, according to the official Bushiroad Creative announcement.
The 2026 event is part birthday shop, part collector trap — albeit a rather lovely one. The new artwork gives fans something tangible, while Nagatsuki’s short story is the sort of bonus that will probably vanish into the resale ecosystem at alarming speed.

For readers outside Japan, this is not a new anime announcement or a streaming update. It is a regional merchandise event, so availability will depend on whether retailers or proxy buyers bring the goods overseas.
