Sanrio and KAI launch a baking range starring Pompompurin
KAI’s new Sanrio baking range includes a Pompompurin pudding cup, character cutters, chocolate tools and gift bags.
Sanrio and KAI have teamed up on a new baking range built around characters including Pompompurin, My Melody, Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll. The collection is listed on KAI’s official online store and includes moulds, a pudding cup, chocolate-making tools and gift packaging.1
The collaboration is aimed at making character-themed treats easier to prepare, with products designed for beginners as well as families baking together. KAI’s campaign page lists eight items in the range, each tied to the colourful Sanrio cast.1
What is in the range
The headline item is a Pompompurin pudding cup, a silicone mould designed to help make the character’s recognisable pudding shape. KAI says the cup is microwave-, refrigerator-, freezer- and oven-safe, and includes a small recipe book with four recipes.1
There is also a My Melody chocolate and biscuit cutter with interchangeable clothing and accessory pieces. The set is designed to let bakers decorate the character with different looks rather than producing a single fixed shape.1
Other products include a Sanrio character heart-chocolate kit, plus cuddle-style biscuit cutters featuring Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin. The range is rounded out by Sanrio-themed gift bags in two designs, including a My Melody and Kuromi version.1
KAI’s official store lists the products at prices ranging from ¥660 for the gift bags to ¥1,320 for the Pompompurin pudding cup and My Melody cutter. The Pompompurin biscuit cutter is marked sold out on the store page at the time of writing.1
Our opinion
This is a straightforward character collaboration, but the practical angle makes it more interesting than a range of decorative merchandise. The moulds and cutters are built around recognisable shapes without demanding professional baking skills, while the gift packaging gives the finished treats an obvious use beyond the kitchen. The Pompompurin cup is the standout: it is specific enough to feel like proper fan merchandise, but useful enough to earn space in a baking drawer.
The collection is available through KAI’s official online store, with availability varying by item.
