Seven Seas licenses Nighthawk, Once Again for English release
Seven Seas Entertainment will publish Fuyuki Izumida's Nighthawk, Once Again in English from October 2027, with print and ebook editions planned.
Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed Nighthawk, Once Again, a manga by Fuyuki Izumida, for an English-language release. The publisher announced the deal on 28 October, adding another title to its 2027 manga schedule.
The story
Nighthawk, Once Again follows a retired legendary hitman who has spent eight years away from the profession. Seven Seas describes her as living in a run-down apartment, drinking, smoking, gambling and struggling with money after her retirement. The publisher's synopsis frames the central question around whether Nighthawk can return to the field — or whether the years away have left her unable to reclaim her old reputation.
The announcement presents the series as a character-driven action comedy built around that contrast. Nighthawk was once feared by dangerous criminals, but her present-day life is deliberately far removed from the image of a flawless professional. That gap between the legend and the washed-up reality is the hook Seven Seas is using to introduce the series to English-language readers.
Release details
Volume 1 is scheduled to be published in October 2027 as a single-volume print edition. Seven Seas lists the price at US$13.99 in the United States and CAN$18.99 in Canada. Ebook editions are also planned for digital platforms.
The publisher's announcement describes this as an English-language licence for the manga series. It does not announce an anime adaptation, a release date for later volumes or a wider international rights deal. Those distinctions matter here: the news is about Seven Seas bringing the manga to English readers, rather than a new screen project.
Fuyuki Izumida is credited as the creator of Nighthawk, Once Again. Seven Seas' synopsis sets up a former killer facing a very different kind of problem from the ones she handled in her past: eviction, debt and the possibility that her skills have gone rusty. The October 2027 launch gives readers a long wait, but the premise is clear enough to establish the series' identity well before publication.
Our opinion
The strongest part of the announcement is the simple reversal at its centre. A legendary hitman who is now a broke, disorganised shut-in is a more distinctive pitch than another straight comeback story, because the conflict is not only whether Nighthawk can defeat a new enemy. It is whether she can rebuild a life after years of doing almost nothing useful with it.
That makes the October 2027 release worth keeping an eye on, although the announcement leaves plenty unanswered. Seven Seas has not yet shared preview pages, a final English title treatment or more information about the release beyond the first volume. For now, Nighthawk, Once Again is a promising English manga licence with a strong character hook, rather than a title with a confirmed adaptation or an imminent launch.
