Adachitoka, creators of Noragami, launch new manga Yadoya no Oinu-sama
The Noragami creators’ new manga, translated as The Inn’s Dog, begins in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine on 6 October.
Adachitoka, the manga duo behind Noragami, are returning with a brand-new series. Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine has announced that Yadoya no Oinu-sama — translated in the announcement as The Inn’s Dog — will begin in the magazine’s next issue on 6 October.
The news marks the creators’ first new serial since Noragami: Stray God concluded in January 2024, bringing one of manga’s most recognisable supernatural teams back to the pages that hosted their previous hit.
What's actually going on
The announcement appeared in the October issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine. Although the issue is dated October, the next issue carrying the new manga goes on sale in Japan on 6 October 2026. Adachitoka also posted a preview image through their official X account, teasing the launch and linking it directly to the Noragami legacy.
The title is written as Yadoya no Oinu-sama (やどやのお犬さま). Beyond the title and launch date, the initial announcement has not revealed a full synopsis, character list, format or confirmed international publisher. That means readers should treat the project as a confirmed manga launch, not yet as an announced anime adaptation or overseas release.
A new chapter after *Noragami*
Adachitoka launched Noragami: Stray God in Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2010. The series followed Hiyori Iki, Yato and Yukine through a supernatural Tokyo where gods, spirits and human lives repeatedly collided. Kodansha published the manga’s 27th and final collected volume in February 2024.
The manga also inspired a 12-episode television anime that premiered in January 2014, followed by Noragami Aragoto in October 2015. Those adaptations helped turn the series into an international favourite, making any new Adachitoka project notable even before its premise is known.
For now, the new series is best understood as a fresh start rather than a continuation. The launch announcement does not confirm that it shares Noragami’s setting, characters or mythology, and there is no verified anime, English-language edition or international release date to report.
Our opinion
A new Adachitoka manga is an excellent reason to pay attention, even with the details still behind a curtain. Noragami worked because its supernatural ideas were matched by messy, funny and surprisingly tender character drama; the creators have already shown they can turn a simple title into a much bigger world.
The sensible expectation is curiosity rather than instant franchise speculation. Yadoya no Oinu-sama has a launch date and a striking title, but its premise will decide whether it becomes the next great Adachitoka obsession. We will be watching the 6 October debut closely — and hoping the dog is every bit as important as the name suggests.
