The Summer Hikaru Died manga will end with its 51st chapter in October

The Summer Hikaru Died is heading towards its final goodbye. The manga’s official account has announced that only two more chapters remain, with chapter 51 scheduled to conclude the series on 20 October 2026.

Chapter 50 is scheduled for 13 October, meaning the final two instalments are set to arrive one week apart in Japan. That is a neat, merciless countdown for a story that has never been particularly interested in letting its characters feel safe.

What's actually going on

The announcement comes from the official account for Mokumokuren’s manga. Chapter 50 is listed for 13 October 2026, followed by chapter 51 — the final chapter — on 20 October.

Those are Japanese publication dates. They should not be confused with the English-language release schedule from Yen Press, which has volume eight scheduled for 27 October. A translated collected volume is a separate timetable from the Japanese chapter publication.

The manga launched on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up website in August 2021. Its anime adaptation debuted in July 2025, and a second season has already been announced.

Why you should care

A final chapter announcement changes how every remaining update lands. Readers now know the series has a fixed endpoint, which makes the next two chapters less about waiting for an indefinite continuation and more about seeing whether the story can stick its landing.
