Dandadan brought Turbo Granny and the Serpo Alien to Colombia’s SOFA event as MBS expands its global campaign ahead of season three.

Dandadan (ダンダダン) has taken its Turbo Granny-led global campaign to Colombia, where the anime made its first appearance at the country’s SOFA pop-culture event in Bogotá. The booth ran from 8 to 12 October as part of a wider overseas programme from MBS, bringing the series to one of South America’s biggest fan gatherings.1

Turbo Granny meets Colombia

The SOFA booth featured Turbo Granny and the Serpo Alien, two of Dandadan’s most recognisable supernatural characters. According to the event report, visitors queued for photographs throughout the exhibition, with families, younger fans and older visitors among the crowds. Fans also wore masks modelled on characters from the series, helping turn the booth into a loud, highly visible piece of promotion rather than a quiet display.1

The Colombia stop is part of the “Turbo Granny Meets The World” campaign, which has already taken Dandadan to events including Fan Expo Dallas, San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, UwUAFTERDARK in Colombia, New York Comic Con and OC Japan Fair. The campaign also includes an ADN tour across France, with further appearances planned for Lucca Comics & Games in Italy from 28 October to 1 November.1

A global push before season three

The event activity gives MBS a way to keep Dandadan visible between anime seasons. The television series has completed its first two seasons, while a third season is scheduled for 2027. The original manga, written by Yukinobu Tatsu and serialised through Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app, has passed 14 million copies in circulation, according to the report.1

An official Dandadan trailer from Science SARU is included below for readers who want a quick reminder of the anime’s supernatural visual identity.2

Our opinion

The Colombia event is a smart example of anime promotion travelling with the fandom rather than waiting for viewers to come to a conventional launch event. Turbo Granny is an immediately recognisable mascot, and putting the character in a busy local convention gives the campaign a physical, photograph-friendly hook that social media can carry much further.

The challenge will be keeping that momentum connected to meaningful news about season three, rather than letting the campaign become a string of disconnected appearances. For now, the SOFA debut shows that Dandadan’s appeal is travelling well beyond Japan, and MBS has clearly found a memorable way to make that international push feel local.1
